Michael V. Turner
Artistic Director

Michael V. Turner has been Artistic Director of the Neponset Choral Society since 2003. Mr. Turner is a graduate of the Boston University School of Music and holds a Master of Music in Conducting and Composition from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge. In August 2007 Longy appointed him to its Board of Visitors. In 1992 he was awarded a fellowship at Northwestern University. He has also done advanced studies at the New England Conservatory of Music and the Kodály Center of America. His original works have been performed by the Longy Chamber Orchestra and other prominent Boston area ensembles. In June 2000, his brass quintet "Fanfare for Abner" premiered in Boston’s Symphony Hall. Mr. Turner has studied conducting with Jeffrey Rink, Thomas Dunn, and Robert Harris, and served as assistant to Lorna Cooke deVaron. Mr. Turner is an active member of the American Choral Directors’ Association, the Music Educators’ National Conference (MENC) and the Massachusetts Music Educators’ Association, and serves as Database Administrator for the MMEA. Currently Mr. Turner is Director of Music at the Noble and Greenough School in Dedham. He has been on the faculty at Nobles since 1988, teaching Choral Music, Music Theory and Composition. In June 2007 Nobles awarded him the Weber Family Chair for the Performing Arts, "awarded to a member of the faculty whose talents, creativity and direction cultivate in students a love for and lifelong interest in the Performing Arts." Mr. Turner lives in Dedham with his wife Stacey, and their children, Wilson, Mackenzie, and Bailey.

Linda Jiorle-Nagy
Assistant Director

is on the music faculty of Brown University and Boston University, and since 1989 has been the Assistant Music Director for the Neponset Choral Society. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Douglass College of Rutgers University in 1971, graduating with honors in music. She received her Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance from Boston University School for the Arts in 1973 where she received Honors in Piano. In 1975, she was the recipient of a Fulbright-Hays/Daad Scholarship to study in Koln, West Germany where she attended the Staatliche Hochschule Fur Musik. In 1993, she was awarded her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance from Boston University. Her dissertation topic was the Makrokosmos of George Crumb. Ms. Jiorle-Nagy has been the winner of numerous awards for her piano performances. She has competed in the Geneva, Busoni, Terni, and East-West Artist Piano Competitions and has specialized in the works of contemporary composers. She has been featured in numerous premieres of avant-garde music and has performed in contemporary music ensembles including Alea III, under the direction of Theodore Antoniou. In addition, Ms. Jiorle-Nagy has performed many of the works of Bela Bartok, including performances of the Concerto of Two Pianos and Percussion with her late husband, Dr. Bela Boszormenyi-Nagy. She is an active solo and chamber pianist in New England, and has appeared at the American Liszt Festival and the American Matthay Festival. Recent performances with the Neponset Choral Society have included the Choral Fantasy by Beethoven, the Fifth Brandenburg Concerto by Bach, and Mozart's Piano Concerto K.467.
